Hakeem Olajuwon LAST Rockets Game EVER Stuff!Hakeem Olajuwon played 17 incredible seasons for the Houston Rockets during his basketball career, and became one of the NBA's Top 50 Players of All Time. He holds numerous Rockets franchise records, several NBA records, including being the all-time league leader in blocked shots. He was the NBA's MVP for the 1993-94 season and was the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year that season and the next; Olajuwon was also the NBA Finals MVP for two years running, in 1994 and 1995. The Dream is truly a Houston sports icon as well as a bonafide NBA superstar, and after 17 years moved on to the Toronto Rapters to finish up his playing career. He returned to the place he made his name, both in college and in the pros, on March 5th, 2002 when Toronto came to play the Rockets at the Compaq Center...it turned out to be the VERY LAST time Hakeem ever played on the Rockets court, and he was welcomed back like a basketball god! This auction lot consists of some terrific collectibles from that historic night in Houston...an original season ticketholder's ticket stub, a Rockets Blastoff game card with Steve Francis pictured on the front and the teams' rosters on the back, a set of media pre-game notes, and the sports section from the day after the game with the headline "Torch is Passed". Houston Rockets NBA Champs Banner Ceremonies!
If you're a fan of the Houston basketball, then this is a VERY COOL lot...one you're unlikely to see anywhere else! The Rockets won the NBA Championship in 1994 and 1995 and the first home games of the 1995 and 1996 seasons were VERY special. Fans saw the players and coaches receive their championship rings and then watched the championship banner get raised to the ceiling of The Summit! Both were extremely special and emotional moments, with the titles being the first for the city. This lot has deluxe season ticketholder ticket stubs (not TicketMaster style stubs!) from both of those special games; each is printed "Game 1" on it. The 1995 stub shows NBA Commissioner David Stern presenting Hakeem Olajuwon with the NBA trophy after the Rockets Game 7 victory at home over the New York Knicks. The other stub shows the teams two Championship trophies pictured against part of the city's skyline! OLD Hakeem Olajuwon WATER! Houston Rockets
At the height of his basketball career, when he led the Houston Rockets to back to back NBA Championships, Hakeem Olajuwon had numerous products and endorsement deals in Houston. One of them was for a line of bottled water simply called "Hakeem Olajuwon Natural Spring Water". The label on this bottle shows Hakeem looking proudly to the side (like a champion!) next to the phrase "Dream Your Dream, Prepare to Accomplish, Finish Strong"; there's also a printed autograph underneath it with "MVP" next to it. This empty 16 ounce plastic water bottle is a very cool collectible that doesn't turn up very often; distribution of the product was limited and most of them got thrown away after the water was enjoyed! |
||
RARE 1994 NBA Finals Hat! Houston Rockets
Here's a great commemorative from the memorable championship series between the New York Knicks and the eventual champions Houston Rockets. This is red, black, white and blue embroidered adjustable hat sold only during the seven game final series. ||
RARE Houston Rockets 94 Champs Glass PromoRemember the excitement around the 1994 NBA Finals between the Houston Rockets and the New York Knicks? Hakeem Olajuwon versus Patrick Ewing battling for a title, just like they did in college. Stylish, experienced Pat Riley writing up X's and O's against the believing fan's coach, Rudy Tomjanovich. "Hellhole" versus "The Big Apple". Rookie Sam Cassell dating Madonna! The Dream blocking John Starks' shot at the buzzer of Game 6 to force a winner-take-all Game 7 in The Summit. It was a great time for the NBA as well as the two participating cities. The Rockets emerged from the series victorious and brought Houston their first major professional championship. To commemorate the occasion and to honor the team's season ticket holders, new club owner (who bought the team right before their championship year!) had a limited number of beautiful 5" by 3 1/2" polished glass displays made. This is one of those SUPER RARE individually numbered gems which are EXTREMELY hard to locate, especially in Houston! The words "Championship teams have championship fans. Thanks for being one of ours" is etched above the original Houston Rockets team logo and the words "1994 NBA World Champions". Owner Leslie L. Alexander's signature is etched at the bottom, above the individual number; this is number 4877 of only 5600 produced. This rare commemorative item comes in it's original box with a color Rockets logo on it, and inside is an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity with the same number as the momento. Finally, I found the original letter that was mailed separately to 1993-94 season ticket holders which thanks fans and mentions the special gift. It is an AWESOME item in itself, printed on Rockets stationary with the words "1994 NBA Champions" in the upper right! This is one of the nicest limited edition team items given to fans, and Houstonians especially cherish it and what it represents. Don't miss your chance to add this high quality piece to your collection; it could be VERY difficult to ever locate another one! See Image ......... $39.99 ![]() |

One features Hakeem blocking a Karl Malone shot, while the other pictures the on the court celebration immediately following the Rockets first title! An interesting aside about this item is that the Rockets prevented the phone company from picturing them the next year, so Southwestern Bell had to use a generic downtown photo. These covers have been carefully removed from the rest of the heavy phonebooks, and are in Very Good Condition...they're ready to add to your collection TODAY! Finding these now is nearly IMPOSSIBLE, as not many people saved them once new phone books came out the next year. |

RARE Houston Rockets NBA Finals Ticket + StubThe 1997 season for the Houston Rockets saw them attempt to get back to the NBA Finals after Seattle ended their two year championship run the year before. In 97, the Rockets won their first playoff round over Minnesota, three games to none, then after that finally beat Seattle four games to three in the next round. That took them into the Western Conference Finals against Utah, whom Houston had beaten when they made it to the NBA Finals in both 1994 and 1995 and won it all. This time, John Stockton stuck the dagger in the Rockets' backs when he hit a 3 point shot at the buzzer of Game Six in Houston to instead send the Jazz to the 1997 NBA Finals. This VERY COOL lot honors that playoff run, which was led by superstars Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, and Charles Barkley, all NBA Top 50 Players of all time. It has individual large deluxe ticket stubs from one game in The Summit (now Compaq Center) from each playoff round. Check out the great action images of The Dream, The Glyde, and the Round Mound of Rebound! Also included is an AWESOME phantom (unused) ticket for a Rockets 1997 NBA Finals Game, which obviously never occurred; that's why they call these tickets "phantom" tickets. This large gem has all three stars pictured in a terrific group pose! If you're a Rockets fan, NBA Top 50 fan, or simply a big basketball collector, this lot is a great set of items that you're unlikely to find again! |
